Identifying the correct synonyms and antonyms in exams like SSC, RRB, UPSC, BANK, and other competitive exams can help you score higher. However, many people think that memorizing synonyms and antonyms is difficult — and yes, it can be tough when you try to remember too many at once. But don’t worry! You can tackle this and remember them easily by following a few smart shortcuts.
That said, always remember — shortcuts are not a final solution. Understanding the concept or the meaning of the word is more important. Shortcuts only work best when you already know what the word means. So, always try to learn the meaning first, and then use the shortcut to remember it faster. Now, I’m going to share a few powerful shortcuts and tips to help you study smart and learn faster.

Daily 50 words Trick
Take notes. Take a daily newspaper — yes, obviously an English paper — a pencil (because it’s easy to erase mistakes), and a dictionary. Now sit in a peaceful place and read the newspaper. Write down the words you think are new or the words you don’t understand. Then open the dictionary and write the meanings in your notes. Keep going like this until you finish reading the newspaper.
This gives you two benefits: one, it gives you knowledge of what’s happening in the world, and two, it builds a strong command of the English language — helping you easily understand the meaning of big, complex words.
For example, if you see this:
“Exercise Tarang Shakti”: India hosted its largest multinational air exercise featuring Greek and Indian air forces participating together in September 2024.
Write down the words like hosted, multinational, featuring, and participating. Now open the dictionary, understand the meanings, and write them in your notes.
No problem if your word count reaches more than 50. Because the main trick is to remember these words. To do that, read 50 words daily and revise them the next day along with learning new ones. If you don’t understand, let me explain:
Remember 50 words from your notes today. Tomorrow, learn 50 new words — but also revise the 50 you learned yesterday. Do this daily. By revising regularly, you’ll start remembering the words automatically.
There’s no need to learn exactly 50 words every day. If you’re comfortable with 30, learn 30. If you can handle 70, learn 70. It’s not about the number of words — it’s about consistency. The more consistent you are, the more marks you’ll get. So always stay consistent and work hard daily. Let’s go to the next trick: The Theme Trick.
Theme Trick
Always check the themes of schemes, days, games, summits and so on. These themes often contain high-level vocabulary, which may attract the examiner — and they’re directly taken from current affairs. In many cases, a single word in the theme is used to convey the meaning of a full sentence. These themes are usually given by senior officials or international organizations.
So, always study those lines carefully and understand their meaning.
Now, I will provide 20 themes from current affairs. Read them, understand their meaning, and improve yourself.
